Me gusta mucho YouTube.

Update: In order to use the YouTube Greasemonkey script properly, you must save the file as a .flv file (which is a flash video). You then need a Flash video player that you can download here. Or, you can download Total Video Converter which will allow you to change the .flv file into a different video format. I hope this helps. (via sandbox films)

YouTube YouTube. Very cool. For those of you who have not come across this great (kind of) new service, allow me to enlighten you.

YouTube takes the social aspects of the web (tagging, blogging, storing, sharing) and uses them with an online video storage and viewing library. More or less, take Flickr, change the photos to videos, and you have YouTube. Flickr + motion = YouTube. YouTube also has some cool stuff like featured videos and recently viewed on its home page.

I know that YouTube isn’t really new and most of you already know about it, but it’s popularity is skyrocketing right now (especially amidst aquisition rumors that are all but put to rest), so I had to post about it.

I don’t use YouTube for any of it special features at this point, but I love that I can watch (and download with this Greasemonkey script) some really cool videos for free. My favorites are the Tenacious D music videos. (By the way, for all of you D fans, Pandora features Tenacious D tracks. I found that out last night much to my suprise and great delight.)

  1. It’s currently down at the moment, pending a bit announcement – rumour has it they’ve been bought by Yahoo.

  2. 2. Yeah it worries me that it’s down. I hope the kids don’t sell out any control. I prefer it in their hands. Please do me a favour Free Hogg. When YouTube goes back up please check if that Greasemonkey allows you to download my videos and view them in Windows Media or Real, then let me know, please?
