Update: Opera says there’s no deal with Google.

Filed under: Browsers, Google, Opera, Software — Hogg @ 3:17 pm

According to Rueters, Opera‘s CFO said that they don’t know anything about the rumored deal with Google.

But Jebsen said that Opera did not know of any takeover bid and was not in talks with any company, after rumours of a possible bid from Google.

“We have heard the rumours but know nothing more about this,” he told Reuters.

Well, so much for that. I was kind of excited about it.

  1. It could still happen, when rumors such as this are flying about, they are always quick to deny them. But if you look at it, going with Opera for the GBrowser would make sense, mostly because of Opera Mini, imagine the money they would make by placing ads on everyone’s cellphone.

  2. Wow, I hadn’t even heard that one! Google to buy Opera? That would have been sweet! They could have improved upon it and rebranded it the Google Browser!
