Please, I’m begging you, post full feeds!

Filed under: Feeds — Hogg @ 11:52 pm

I know that I am a lowly newbie blogger, but I plead with all of you who might be reading this and have your own blog. Please don’t post excerpts in your feeds.

If you do decide to change your feed to post full entries, I applaud you, with gusto. However, if you decide to keep your feed the way it is and only post the first 12 words of your entry, then that is your prerogative, but you will not get even a single hand clap from me.

  1. It’s funny you shoud mention this, I am currently redesigning my blog and on the list of criteria I’m working to includes revised RSS feeds with full article text.

I will providing a normal RSS feed and also a feed which has some styling so that’s nice and easy to read in the browser.

  2. […] Starting tonight, I am going to e-mail all of the blogs that I read who post excerpts and ask them to use full feeds. If they won’t then they’re kicked off my OPML. This is a pet peeve of mine. I don’t have time to click on links every time I want to read a post. I really hope that these blogs will give me full feeds, because some really good ones use excerpts unfortunately. I know that I’m not the only one that feels this way. Alex Barnett has posted on this very topic. […]

  3. Done … for time being. If I get too many requests to switch back to excerpts, I am afraid I will have to.
